Critical Mass Questions and Answers
Critical Mass is a creative, ambitious dance and movement project which will form a new collective of up to 300 young people from across the West Midlands.
By joining Critical Mass you will have the opportunity to:
- Work with a range of professional Dance Artists
- Meet new young people from across the region
- Develop a range of movement and performance skills
- Perform in a range of cultural events throughout 2022
Over the next year, Critical Mass will have the opportunity to take part in a range of performance opportunities, some of which will be optional so that you can tailor your Critical Mass experience to be most beneficial for you.
To prepare for these performance opportunities we will be rehearsing in smaller groups on a weekly basis. As part of the joining process, you’ll be able to select which group you attend. Each weekly session will be approx. 1.5hrs long.
Throughout the year there will also be a number of additional rehearsals where we will bring different rehearsal groups together as we start to build towards the mass performances. An overview of these dates will be provided as part of the joining process.
Just yourself! We suggest you wear clothes you feel comfortable moving in and bring a refillable bottle if you have one.
Yes, we want you to feel comfortable. There will be support staff at the sessions but we also know it’s reassuring to have someone you know with you. Please let us know when signing up to Critical Mass if you would like to bring a Carer/Support Assistant with you or email email@example.com or call, text or What’s App us on our mobile (07938 500 057).
One of the team would be more than happy to have a chat with you, contact us on email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or our mobile (07938 500 058)
We understand that not everyone will be able to attend every weekly rehearsal. When you join Critical Mass you’ll be provided with a list of compulsory dates to attend. Where possible, it would be great if you could let us know in advance if you’re unable to attend any session. Let us know if we can help in any way to support you to attend the sessions. For example, if you’d need travel or access support, we may be able to help. Contact us on email (email@example.com) or our mobile (07938 500 058).
That’s totally fine, our sessions will give you the chance to make new friends and we have a very friendly team ready to welcome you!
Due to the pandemic, we will be working with each rehearsal venue to keep you safe. Please be aware that this is likely to mean that on arrival you will need to provide evidence of a recent lateral flow test and you will be encouraged to use a mask in public indoor areas. Full details will be available here.
